Lions Land Two on Deep South All-Tournament Team
Del Buono and Van Bomel Earn Honors
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Despite their semifinal round exit from the Deep South Conference Tournament with the loss to Florida Southern last Thursday, the Saint Leo men's lacrosse team still managed to land two veterans on the DSC All-Tournament Team when it was released on Tuesday. Faceoff specialist and preseason All-America Mike Del Buono and attackman Rob Van Bomel took home the awards for the Lions.
Del Buono, a first-team All-DSC selection, went 25-of-42 from the faceoff winning nearly 60 percent of his faceoff opportunities. Although he did not register a goal, his wins from the X and six ground balls set the Lions up for goal-scoring opportunities in their first-round win over Rollins.
Van Bomel impressed Saint Leo fans in the second-half of the season with his scoring outbursts and continued the showing when the DSC Tournament came around. In just two games, the sophomore scored six times and tallied an assist, making his mark on the All-Tournament Team.
