SAINT LEO, Fla. – Lacrosse head coach Brad Jorgensen and the entire 2010 version of the Saint Leo lacrosse team received national attention recently, being named to a pair of preseason top-10 polls. This marks the first time in history that the team has received a preseason top-10 selection.
The Lions were chosen to finish ninth in both Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Yearbook and Lacrosse Magazine.
Following a tremendous 2009 campaign in which SLU finished 11-3 overall, claiming their first Deep South Conference Championship, the Lions proved to be one of the top teams in the country closing the year No. 9 in the USILA national poll. The squad will return 11 starters from last year’s team, including starting goalie David Erdman and top offensive threat Kyle Marceau.
Both C.W. Post and LeMoyne College are ranked preseason No.1 and No. 2 in both publications.
The Lions open up the season with a non-conference tilt against Rollins College on Saturday, February 20th from Winter Park, Fla.
