Saint Leo, Fla. (December 5, 2007) - Saint Leo University lacrosse player David Erdman (So., Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) was named a 2008 Pre-Season Second Team All-American by Face-Off Yearbook earlier this week.  The selection marks the first pre-season All-American selection in the brief history of the Saint Leo lacrosse program.

The Lions goalie was named the 2007 Deep South Conference Freshman of the Year and was also a member of the DSC All-Conference Team.  Erdman led the conference with a .604 save percentage.  He made 204 saves and had a goals against average of 9.03.

Erdman’s numbers also placed him among the leaders in the nation in 2007.  His save percentage was good for fourth nationally, while his goals against average versus NCAA competition ranked 11th in the nation.  In addition, Erdman was recognized as the 2006-07 Saint Leo Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.

The Lions finished 2007 with a 7-8 record, including a first-ever appearance in the Deep South Conference Tournament.

The Saint Leo lacrosse team will open its 2008 season at home versus Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) on Saturday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m.   In addition to its games versus Deep South Conference opposition, the Lions schedule includes games against three teams ranked in the top-10 nationally (Limestone, Dowling and Molloy).
