Saint Leo, Fla. (February 5, 2007) – The Saint Leo University lacrosse team and its fans were recently honored by being chosen as recipients of the 2006 James “Ace” Adams Sportsmanship Award from US Lacrosse.

The unique award recognizes the behavior of the team’s players on the field, as well as the support of fans on the sideline.  Saint Leo’s players and fans exhibited the best sportsmanship of all schools in the district according to the officials who worked in the district.

The award is presented by the US Lacrosse Men’s Division Collegiate Officials Committee and is named after Coach Adams who exemplified the highest standards of class and professionalism throughout his coaching career.

The Saint Leo lacrosse team will open its second-ever season on February 17, 2007 at Savannah College of Art and Design (1:00 p.m.).  A year ago, the Lions finished 3-9 during the inaugural year of competition.
