Saint Leo, Fla. (December 21, 2006) – The Saint Leo University lacrosse team has been ranked fourth in the Deep South Conference Pre-Season poll announced earlier this month by Face-Off Yearbook.

Saint Leo was added as a member of the Deep South Conference earlier in the fall.  The five-team conference is a lacrosse-only league featuring teams mainly from the Carolinas.

Saint Leo attackman Ryan Harris (Sr., Vestal, N.Y.) was a pre-season All-Conference selection.  Harris led the Lions during SLU’s inaugural season in 2006, as he scored 32 goals and added 16 assists for a total of 48 points.

Wingate University, who topped the pre-season poll, also tied Mars Hill College for the most players named to the pre-season All-Conference Team with four selections each.

The Saint Leo lacrosse team will open its second-ever season on February 17, 2007 at Savannah College of Art and Design (1:00 p.m.).  The Lions first game in Deep South league play will be at home against Catawba College on Wednesday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m.
