Gendron opens NCAA men’s golf championship Monday

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo senior Ryan Gendron will take to the Watson Course at Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Fla. on May 22-24. Gendron will compete as an individual as he embarks on his fourth appearance at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships.

On Oct. 3-4, 2016, Gendron participated in the NCAA Division II National Preview on the Watson Course at Reunion Resort, where he tied for 63rd with a 224 (+8). Gendron shot back-to-back 76's on day one of the preview before an even-par 72 to close out the tournament in October.

At the 2017 NCAA DII South/Southeast Regional, Gendron tied for sixth after rounds of 71-70-70 to make up his five-under 211. After 54 holes on the course in Muscle Shoals, Ala., Gendron sank 37 pars and connected on 11 birdies for the tournament.

While performing at the NCAA National Championships, Gendron has finished in the top 25 two of his three times with his best finish of third back in 2015 at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C. While on the course in 2015, Gendron finished four-under with an opening round of 70 followed by a second round 67, his best round at the national championships, and an even-par 72 final round.
