SAINT LEO, Fla. - Hugo Bernard, a rising sophomore at Saint Leo University, will tee off in the RBC Canadian Open, a PGA event, on Thursday, July 21st at the par-72, 7,253 yards Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Bernard will be playing as an Amateur in the PGA event and will tee off on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. on hole number one.
Bernard was one of 12 Canadians that received sponsor exemption to play in this year's RBC Canadian Open. Among those listed with Bernard will be Web.com Tour player Brad Fritsch and two other Canadian National Amateur Squad members Jared du Toit and Blair Hamilton. (RBC Canadian Release)
Bernard will tee off on the first tee and will be joined in the first round with American Sam Saunders and fellow countryman Blair Hamilton. The field finished up practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday and will play in the Championship Pro-Am today, Wednesday, July 20, before teeing off Thursday to open the RBC Canadian Open. The first two groups of Will Wilcox, Cameron Percy and Tyrone Van Aswegen (hole one) and Roberto Castro, Si Woo Kim and Tom Hoge (hole 10) will tee off at 7:10 a.m. to kick off the RBC Canadian Open.
Bernard is in the field with world No. 1 Jason Day, the 2015 RBC Canadian Open champion, world No. 2 Dustin Johnson, the FEDEXCUP Points leader, along with six other golfers ranked in the top-10 of the FEDEXCUP Points leaderboard - Brandt Snedeker (4th), Kevin Kisner (6th), William McGirt (7th), Matt Kuchar (8th), Graeme McDowell (9th) and Charley Hoffman (10th).
