EATONTON, Ga. – Saint Leo's men's golf team, ranked No. 1 in the nation, currently sits in second place after two rounds of the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee on Monday, March 21st.
Hugo Bernard leads the pack with an even par after two rounds with a 71 and a 69 for the 140 total. Bernard sits in third in the player leader board as Liam Ainsworth is tied for 19th after the two rounds. Ainsworth shot a plus-six for a two round 146 with a 69 first round and a 77 second round.
The Lions shot a 580 two round total, plus-20, with a first round 286 and a second round 294.
ROUND 1 – T-1st 286 (+6)
The Lions were tied with Lynn after round one as both teams shot a 286 (+6). Saint Leo is led by Liam Ainsworth who is tied for second with a 69 (-1) on the 6,730-yard course.
Hugo Bernard shot a plus-one, 71, in the first round to finish in a tie for fifth, while Ryan Gendron tied for 11th after carding a 72, two over.
ROUND 2 – 2nd 294 (+14)
Saint Leo moved to second after a 294, plus-14, second round. Bernard jumped from fifth to third after he fired off a 69, minus-one, in round two. Ainsworth moved from second to a tie for 19th after a plus-seven, 77, for a two round total of 146.
Clark fell from 21st to 42nd after a plus-six, 76, as Gendron went from 11th to a tie for 42nd with a second round 78, plus-eight.
Bannon turned it around and shot a second round plus-two, 72, to finish at 152, plus-12.
Saint Leo continues play at the Bobcat Invitational on Tuesday, March 22nd for the final round.
