No. 1 Lions Sit in Third After Round 1 of Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. – No. 1 Saint Leo sits in third place after the first round of the Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club on Sunday, March 13th.

The Lions shot a 288 total, even par, on the 7,313 yard par 72 course behind Liam Ainsworth's 70 (-2) in the first round. Ainsworth is sitting in a tie for third heading into the second round on Monday. Ainsworth hit three birdies on back-to-back-to-back holes to end the front nine with a three under before turning in his card at two-under, 70.

Hugo Bernard shot an even par, 72 to tie for 15th after one round of play on the course. Bernard finished with three birdies on the day.

After the first round of play, Ryan Gendron and Griffin Clark are tied for 25th with a plus-one, 73. Clark notched three birdies in the round as Gendron had two.

Riley Goss finished the first round at plus-10, 82, for 89th place.

Playing as an individual, Casey Bannon finished in a tie for 36th with a 74 (+2), carding one birdie on the front nine.


The Lions continue play at First Federal Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club hosted by Valdosta. Monday's round two is set to start at 8:21am.
