Men's Golf enters final round of SSCs in sixth place

SORRENTO, Fla. -- The Saint Leo men's golf team enters Tuesday's final round of the Sunshine State Conference Championship in sixth place. The Lions shaved three strokes of Sunday's total on the par-72, 7,152 yard RedTail Golf Club.

Saint Leo carded a team score of 290 (+2) in the second round and the Lions moved to 12-over through two rounds on Monday, for a team score of 588. 

Joey Savoie shot a 71 (-1) and jumped to a tie for third place but Liam Ainsworth turned in the Lions low score of 69 (-3). Ainsworth is now tied for 15th place. Ryan Gendron carded a 72 (E) while Casey Bannon and Erick Alonso each scored 78. 

Lynn jumped from second place to the top of the leaderboard Monday and holds an 11 stroke lead (565, -11) over second place Nova Southeastern (576, E). John Coultas (Florida Southern) carded a second round 70 (-2) to take sole possession of first place. Coultas leads the pack with a 137 (-7), and holds a 1 stroke lead over teammate John Van Der Laan in second. 

Saint Leo will tee off Tuesday morning beginning at 9:05. The Lions are paired with Barry and Florida Tech in the final round.
