Saint Leo lies ninth at Buccaneer Invitational

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- The Saint Leo men's golf team completed the first and second round of the Buccaneer Invitational 29-over par Monday. The Lions battled six top-20 teams at the par-71 Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach, Fla. 

The 17-team tournament field includes includes No. 1 Nova Southeastern, No. 4 Lynn, No. 7 Saint Leo, No. 10 Central Oklahoma, No. 14 Florida Tech and No. 17 Central Missouri.

Liam Ainsworth led the Lions through the first two rounds at three-over par and sits in a four-way tie for 14th place. The junior improved his play in the second round and his first round 73 with a 72. Joey Savoie turned in a solid two rounds at seven-over, and carded 75-74. 

Ryan GendronErick Alonso, and Trevor Joseph rounded out the Lions five with scores of 150, 153 and 166 respectively. 

Saint Leo will play the final round o the Buccaneer Invitational tomorrow.
