SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men's golf team appeared in the No. 8 spot in the most recent GolfStat Division II relative rankings, released Wednesday.
The Lions are one of three Sunshine State Conference schools among the top ten in GolfStat's analytics-based rankings. Nova Southeastern University is second, while Barry University is fourth. Lynn University appears 16th in the ranking, while Florida Tech is 19th and Florida Southern is 21st.
South Carolina-Aiken, whom the Lions hosted in the season opening Saint Leo Invitational on Sept. 22-23, sit atop the rankings.
Saint Leo's position in the rankings was carried by its high finish at both the Saint Leo Invitational, as well as the Nova Southeastern Guy Harvey Invitational on October 6-7. Nearly half the field in each tournament was comprised of schools ranked among Golfstat's top 25.
The Golfstat relative rankings are determined using comparative records versus all opponents, as well as adjusted scoring average and the adjusted fifth score for each school in tournaments. Comparative record and relative winning percentage against teams in the top 25 are also used in the calculations.
Saint Leo completes its Fall 2014 slate on Monday, Oct. 27, and Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Rollins College Tar Invitational in Winter Park, Fla.
