Lions move into 8th after 2nd Rounds of NCAA South/Southeast Regionals

Gendron sits in 5th after shooting a 70 on day two 

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men's golf team moved into eighth place in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional golf tournament on Tuesday, at the Savannah Quarters Golf and Country Club in Savannah, Ga. 

The Lions, who started the day in 15th place, after shooting a 301 in the first round, shot a 292 in round two for a two day total of 593. They sit just three strokes behind seventh place North Alabama. 

Ryan Gendron, who teed off in 11th, shot a 70 on Tuesday to move into sole possession of fifth place with a two day total of 141. He sits just two strokes off the leaders, Tim Crouch (69-70) of Florida Southern and Santiago Gomez (69-70) of Nova Southeastern, who are each five under with a 139. 

Joey Savoie finds himself in a tie for 24th with a two day total of 148 (76-72), and Chaz Heinz shares 41st with a 151 (78-73). 

Liam Ainsworth enters the final round in a tie for 54th with a 153 (76-77), and Trevor Joseph rounds out the Lions' competitors in 104th with a 170 (88-82). 

Saint Leo will tee off for the final round of the regional on Wednesday, May 7, with the first of the Lions' five players starting at 12:50 p.m.
