Saint Leo in First After Day one of Panther Invitational

Ainsworth, Savoie and Heinz Tied for Third After Day One

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men's golf team had an impressive first day at the Panther Invitational, hosted by Florida Tech at The Majors Golf Club in Palm Bay, Fla. The Lions ended the day in first after shooting a 592 (310-282), five strokes ahead of second place Florida Tech (308-289-597). 

The trio of Liam Ainsworth (78-70), Joey Savoie (77-71) and Chaz Heinz (80-68) finished the day tied with each other for third place after shooting a 148. 

Ryan Gendron is tied for 12th after shooting a two-round total of 152 (75-77), and Trevor Joseph will enter the final day tied for 23rd after shooting a 159 (86-73). 

Florida Tech's "B" team is in third place having shot a 604 (310-294), and Brevard Community College is in fourth after shooting a 618 (321-297). Tampa rounds out the top five team's shooting a 619 (316-303) for the day.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday to wrap up the Panther Invitationa.
