Men's Golf Positioned Well for Final Day of Panther Invitational

PALM BAY, Fla. –The Saint Leo men's golf team teed it up today at the first round of the Panther Invitational at The Majors Golf Club and finished up the day tied for second place with a team score of 304.

Austin Grey bounced back from the last tournament to card a 75 in the first round—tied for the Lions' low-round score with Chaz Heinz, who also fired a 75 in the first round. Both Heinz' and Grey's scores were strong enough to place them in 10th place on the individual leaderboard.

Nick Brothers was next in line and he carded a 76 in the opening round. Rounding out the Lions' four scores was Trevor Joseph who carded a 78 in the opening round. Finishing in the fifth spot for the Lions was Codi Daudelin who turned in an 83.

Saint Leo is tied for second place with Brevard Community College who also shot a 304 as a team in the first round of the tournament.

Leading the pack was West Georgia with a team score of 291. The Lions are 13 strokes out of first place with two rounds remaining in the tournament. Trailing Saint Leo by just two strokes is Montevallo who fired a 306 as a team.
