Men's Golf Sits in Third Place After Opening Round of Smokey Mountain Invitational
FLEMING, Fla. –The men's golf team began its second tournament of the spring season on Monday at the Smokey Mountain Invitational hosted by Wingate University. After one round the Lions are currently tied for third place with a team score of 294.
The Lions were led by Nick Brothers who fired an even par 71 in the opening round. Two strokes behind Brothers was Trevor Joseph who shot a 73. Both carding scores of 75 on the round were Chaz Heinz and Codi Daudelin. Rounding out the Lions in the opening round was Austin Grey would tallied an 80.
Brothers' opening round of 71 was good enough to put him fourth on the individual leaderboard. Trevor Joseph finished the first round tied for 13th overall.
The Lions are tied with Lincoln Memorial University at +10 and trail Montevallo University by just two strokes. Georgia Southwestern State is in the lead after shooting an impressive 286 (+2) in the opening round.
