Men's Golf Battles Rain During First Round of AFLAC Cougar Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Saint Leo University men's golf team completed the first round, and part of the second today at the AFLAC Cougar Invitational in Columbus, Ga. The tournament was stalled for around an hour and a half due to inclement weather, and teams could not finish their second round before they were stopped by darkness. Teams will complete their second and third rounds tomorrow in the final day of the tournament.

After the first round of play, the Lions are in 16th place as they carded a team total of 314. Florida Southern sits in first place with a team score of 286. They are followed by Delta State who shot a 289, and host team Columbus State, who turned in a 294.

Nick Brothers, tied for 36th, led the Lions with his first round score of 76. Two strokes behind him was Austin Grey, who fired a 78. Freshman Trevor Joseph shot a 79, and just two strokes behind him was Ryan Connors with an 81. Rounding out the Lions in the first round was senior Justin Foster with his first round score of 87. 

The Lions get back into action tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. to finish their second round. Following that, they will immediately begin their final round.
