Halligan Joins Men's Golf Staff as Assistant Coach

SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Saint Leo University men's golf team has taken yet another stride in strengthening themselves on the course by hiring Saint Leo University alum and former golfer, Jake Halligan, as an assistant coach, it was announced by head men's golf coach Ray Cisbani today. Halligan brings a wealth of golf knowledge and years of experience in the industry to the Lions and will be a key asset in building a championship caliber program.  

"Coach Halligan will be a nice addition to the team," said Cisbani.  "He not only was a solid college player, but has played professionally and has qualified for several PGA Tour pre-qualifiers. He understands my philosophy and will be able to implement the necessary things to help this team reach its goals."

Halligan, who was a member of the Lions golf team from 2003-2007, returns to Saint Leo after holding the position of Assistant Golf Professional at Timberlin Golf Course in Connecticut since the spring of 2011. Prior to that, he held the positions of First Assistant at Eagle Creek Country Club in Crittenden, Ky., Assistant Director of Tournament Operations for the 7-Up Junior Golf Tour, and Tournament Director/Assistant Junior Golf Director for the Middle Atlantic PGA in Stafford, Va.

A native of Taylor Mill, Ky., Halligan was a model student-athlete during his time on the men's golf team, posting a scoring average of 77.6 over the course of his career as well as maintaining a 4.0 GPA during his senior year while he pursued his degree in Sport Management. As a senior, Halligan played in all ten tournaments, managing four top ten finishes and two top five finishes while posting a scoring average of 75.5. In addition to his success on the course, Halligan was a 2007 GCAA Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar as well as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Halligan will join the team immediately as they prepare for their fall season which gets underway on Sept. 24 at the Jay Jennison Memorial.
