SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's golfer Nick Brothers has been selected a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) PING All-South Region Team, it was announced Monday.
In total, 13 Sunshine State Conference men's golfers received postseason accolades from the GCAA, including NSU's Ben Taylor and Oscar Lengden as they were tabbed DII Collegiate Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively.
Coming off a CoSIDA First Team All-Region Men's At-Large honor, Brothers, a Crystal River, Fla. native, led the Lions this season by posting nearly an even-par scoring average (72.7) across 25 rounds. During the season he managed a share of the top spot at the Indian Bayou Classic in the fall and posted a low-round score of 68 at the Warner Invitational earlier in the spring.
Topping-off his list of 2011-12 accomplishments, the junior registered five top-five finishes and six top-10 results in nine events. Inaddition, he was rewarded with an All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team nod en route to an NCAA South Region Tournament appearance.
