Second Round Slide Drops Brothers in Standings at NCAA Regional

CONOVER, NC – Saint Leo University men's golfer Nick Brothers slid down the leaderboard after the second day of action as he now sits 60th in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional at the 7,064 yard, par-72 Jones Course on the grounds of the Rock Barn Golf & Spa.

Brothers turned in a second round card of 6-over-78 which, combined with his 1-over-73 from the first round, currently has him at 7-over-151 and 13 strokes behind leader Jeff Evanier (70-68—138) from Eckerd College.

Coming out of the gates by gaining a stroke on the leader after a birdie at No. 3, the Saint Leo junior would pencil bogeys at holes four and five before pulling one back with a birdie at No. 7, making up for a double bogey at the same hole on Monday.

Brothers' struggles in the second round came after making the turn as he would bookend a pair of birdies with bogeys, alongside a double bogey at the par-4 No. 13.

Heading into the stretch at 3-over, the Crystal River, Fla. native hit a rough patch where he bogeyed his final three holes to head into the clubhouse with a 6-over second round.

Brothers will look to improve his standing in the final round on Wednesday.  He will get his round underway with an 8:10 a.m. tee time at hole No. 10.
