ERIN, Wis. - Saint Leo junior men's golfer Nick Brothers is on the cusp of solidifying one of the 64 match play spots at the U.S. Amateur Championships, recording a two-day score of even-par 142.
Currently sitting in a tie for 64th, Brothers fired a second round, one-under-71 at the par-72, 7,729-yard Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wis. to put him within shouting distance of the match play field.
Due to inclement weather, yesterday's second round was halted and carried over to today. Multiple individuals of the 315-person tournament are still on the course.
The top-64 to finish will advance to a match play series beginning tomorrow, August 25. If there a tie for the 64th position there will be a playoff to determine who advances to the match play.
Brothers would be the first Lions' golfer in history to advance to match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship.
