SAINT LEO, Fla. – Coming off a tremendous team and individual season for Saint Leo, former SLU men’s golfer Mark McGuire was named to the New Jersey Honorable Mention All-Decade team, it was reported by NorthJersey.com.

McGuire, a Bergen, New Jersey native, showcased his abilities for four seasons at Bergen Catholic High School. While at BCHS, McGuire earned multiple individual accolades including, First Team All-North Jersey, First Team All-State, and First Team All-County.

His squad topped the polls multiple times during his tenure at Bergen Catholic. In total, McGuire helped guide his team to one Bergen County Group 3-4 title (2003-04), and one Non-Public-A State Crown (2005).

His coach, Jim Jacobson, earned Coach of the Decade with a record of 263-13, while multiple former teammates joined McGuire on the Honorable Mention list.

McGuire concluded his playing career for Saint Leo in the spring of 2010. He highlighted his stint in the Green & Gold by shooting a school-record seven-under 64 at the Tampa Spartan Invitational in October of 2009. Aside from finishing first in a pair of tournaments this season, he also helped guide the Lions to the first-ever team NCAA Regional appearance.
