SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s golf team continues to climb up the national chart, now claiming the 19th position in the latest GolfStat Top-25 poll.
The Lions jumped four spots from last week’s No.23 ranking and remain ninth in the region as of April 2. The top 13 teams in the region will receive bids to play in the tournament.
Individually, Nick Brothers has bolted up the charts as one of the top players in Division II, posting 75.59 scoring average. He has claimed an 8-3 record against the top-100, including two victories against the top-25.
JP Albuquerque is the 112th-ranked player in Division II with a 74.3 adjusted scoring average. He has also notched three wins against top-100 competition this year. Teammate Mark McGuire is ranked 125th with a 74.43 scoring average, and has also delivered four wins against the top-100.
The squad, behind four team titles in 2009-10, looks to make a strong showing at the upcoming Sunshine State Conference (April 19-20). The tournament will be hosted by Nova Southeastern University at the Grande Oaks Golf Course.
