SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s golf team continued its climb up the top-25 charts, as they claimed sole possession of the No. 23 national ranking, according to Golf Stat. The team improved one spot from last week’s release.

Coming off a ninth-place showing at the Buccaneer Invitational, the squad upended three top-25 schools including region opponents, West Florida, Valdosta State, and Flagler.

Saint Leo also ranks ninth in the latest South Region poll. The top 13 teams in the south will earn region bids. In total, six Sunshine State Conference schools dominate the south region poll, including Barry and Florida Southern, which rank No. 1 and 2.

Individually, JP Albuquerque ranks 24th in the nation in par-three scoring, posting a 3.11 average.

The Lions will hit the links again on April 19th for the Sunshine State Conference Men’s Golf Championships. The event will be held at the Grande Oaks Golf Course in Davie, Fla. It is hosted by Nova Southeastern.
