MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - Saint Leo University’s men’s golf duo of Cole Cisbani and Mark McGuire each shot an opening round 79 and are tied for 86th place after day one of the 2009 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Southeast/South Super Regional.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par 72, 7,126-yard Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals in Alabama.
Both Lions are two of seven contenders tied for 86th, and are 12 shots behind first round leader Chris Goldan of Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn University, who fired a five-under par 67.
This marks the second consecutive year that Cisbani has qualified as an individual competitor and the first time McGuire has been invited to the Regional Tournament.
The second round will be played on Tuesday, followed by Wednesday’s final 18 holes. The event is being held in Muscle Shoals in the northwest portion of the State of Alabama and is hosted by the University of North Alabama.
