Viera, Fla. (March 4, 2008) – The Saint Leo University men’s golf team finished in fifth-place at the 2008 Panther Invite hosted by Florida Tech following the final round of play on Tuesday.  The Lions shot a team score of 929 (311-301-317) at The Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla.

Lynn University won the event with a team score of 896 (297-302-297).  Second round leader Brevard Community College finished as runner-up with a score of 903 (298-300-305).

The Lions were led by freshman Tom Lynn (Lemont, Ill.) who shot 227 (69-78-80) to finished tied for eighth.  Lynn’s first round score of 69 (-3) was a new career-low for 18 holes.  Mark McGuire (So., Clifton, N.J.) was also in the top-20 in a tie for 19th-place with a 54-hole total of 231 (77-73-81).

Saint Leo will return to action March 16-18 at the Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State University.  The event will be played at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
