Miami, Fla. (April 3, 2007) – The Saint Leo University men’s golf team finished 12th at the 2007 Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Barry University in Miami, Fla.  The Lions shot a team total of 911 (311-303-297) in the event played on the par-72, 6,786-yard layout at Westview Country Club.

Florida Gulf Coast University won the event with a team score of 859 (289-289-281), winning by 10 strokes over USC Upstate and Nova Southeastern who shot identical scores of 869 in the 54-hole event.

Florida Gulf Coast's Robert Taylor finished as the individual medallist after making par on the second hole of a two-hole playoff against Valdosta State's Jason Flowers.  The pair had finished regulation tied with scores of 4-under-par 212.

Saint Leo was led by Matt Cornuet (So., Sebring, Fla.) who shot a three round total of 226 (78-76-72) to finish tied for 44th overall.

The Lions will head to Melbourne, Fla. for the 2007 Sunshine State Conference Championships on April 16-17 at The Duran Golf Club.
