Tampa, Fla. (October 10, 2006) – The Saint Leo University men’s golf team finished 10th at the University of Tampa Spartan Invitational with a 54-hole team total of 920 (301-309-310). The event was played on the par-71, 6,802-yard layout at Rogers Park Golf Club in Tampa, Fla.

Saint Leo was led by senior Jacob Halligan (Taylor Mill, Ky.) who finished in a tie for ninth-place individually following an even-par 71 in Tuesday’s final round. Halligan totaled 221 (76-74-71) for the event, which was won by Johnson & Wales’ Dave Tobon (66-73-71=210).

Brevard Community College won the event with a team score of 888 (297-289-302). Johnson & Wales was second with Lynn University third, and a trio of schools tied for fourth (Rollins College, Florida Gulf Coast University and Flagler College).

Saint Leo’s men’s golf team will return to play next week, as the Lions will head south to Palm Beach, Fla. for the 2006 NSU Fall Invitational at PGA National Golf Club on October 16-17. The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on the opening day of play and an 18-hole final round on Tuesday.
