SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's basketball team left little doubt as to its ability to bounce back, as the Lions dominated from the opening tip in a 96-62 non-conference victory over visiting Albany St. from the Bowman Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions (9-2) had another game where nearly every member of the Green and Gold saw playing time, allowing the starters valuable rest as eyes begin to look toward full conference play. In total, 13 of the 15 players stepped foot on the hardwood with Chim Kadima scoring a game-high 19 points in only 18 minutes of playing time.
Kadima was one of four Lions in double figures as Ron Foxx came off the bench to post his second double-double of 2013-14 behind 13 points and 10 rebounds. Following the duo was a 14-point night from Ryan Wilson and 11 points from Devin Crisosto.
Outpacing the visiting Golden Rams (4-4), Saint Leo shot 54 percent (33-of-61) from the field and went 13-for-29 (44.8 percent) from behind the 3-point arc in picking up the regional victory. The Lions also were 17-for-21 (81 percent) from the free throw line.
Albany St. saw a 12 point contribution from Joseph Williams as he led the visitors from Albany, Ga.
As the busy start early in the season begins to transition into the winter break prior to January conference play, the Lions will have nearly two weeks to prepare for its next game when they travel to West Palm Beach to face Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday, December 20. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
