Randall Completes 2011-12 Squad with Two Additions

SAINT LEO, Fla. – First-year head coach Lance Randall has solidified his 2011-12 men's basketball team as he has announced the additions of Trent Thomas and Sven Sabljak.  Both players join a rebuilt Lions' lineup that will feature 12 new faces when the team tips off in November.

Trent Thomas
6-4 | Jr. | Guard
Milwaukee, Wisc.
Vincent High School | Pratt Community College | North Dakota State College of Science

Thomas comes in from North Dakota State as a highly recruited Junior College transfer.  During his time at NDSCS he played in every game of the 2010-11 season where he averaged 13.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.  A threat from nearly every spot on the floor, he averaged 45 percent shooting from the field while also hitting above 40 percent true on shots from behind the 3-point arc.  Finishing the season in the top-50 in 3-point percentage he also earned Mon-Dak Player of the Week honors.

He also helped NDSCS to a Mon-Dak Conference Championship with a 25-6 record as the team finished 14th in the nation in NJCAA Division I.  He also finished as a First-Team All Mon-Dak selection.

As an All-State player at Vincent High School, Thomas averaged nearly 13 points per game appearing in 18 contests his senior year.  Tasting success at an early age, he helped his team earn runner-up honors in the Wisconsin State Championships during his sophomore year. He was also named First Team All-City finishing the season averaging 12.2 points per game.

Coach Randall's Thoughts –

"Trent is a highly skilled and athletic wing.  He has been successful at both the high school and the Junior College level.  He was highly recruited and had multiple NCAA Division I offers. We are looking forward to working with him here at Saint Leo."

Sven Sabljak
6-7 | So. | Forward
Zagreb, Croatia
Wesleyan Christian Academy | State Fair Community College

Prior to spending a redshirt year at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri, Sabljak averaged eight points and six rebounds at Wesleyan Christian Academy while helping to lead his team to a 19-11 record his senior season.  Sabljak found himself on teams with high-caliber talent, as he saw three teammates from Wesleyan commit to major Division I programs.

Before coming to the United States, Sabljak posted big numbers while playing in Croatia for club teams KK Auctor Sesvete and KK Dubrava.

Coach Randall's Thoughts –

"Sven is a highly skilled big kid from Zagreb, Croatia with good toughness. He has a great frame and feet of a guard and will be a great fit in our program."

Both student-athletes will join 13 other members of the Saint Leo men's basketball team when they officially start practice in October.
