SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s basketball team is set to begin their 2009-10 regular seasons tomorrow evening, while the men take to the home court for the first time this season.

The men will open play at the Marion Bowman Activities Center as they look to even up their 09-10 record against the Warner University Royals at 7:30 p.m. The women, on the other hand, will travel to DeLand, Fla. to tangle with division one opponent Stetson University at 7:00 p.m.

The men, led by head coach Mike Madagan, last defeated the Royals, 88-61, in a December 6, 2006 match-up from the friendly confines of the Bowman Center. In the contest, then freshman Jordan Prais scored 11 points, while Saladeem Dewberry and Eric Sharper dropped in 16 and nine points, respectively. Coach Madagan welcomes seven new players into the fold, as the team continues to aim for the top of the conference.

As for the women, they have the unique challenge of taking on a division one opponent for their season opening game. Head Coach Chanita Olds has high hopes for her team, and their last exhibition showing against Central Florida has given both Olds and the player even a greater level of expectation. Tip-off for their season opener is set for 7:00 p.m. from the campus of Stetson University.
