Saint Leo, Fla. (February 27, 2008) – The Saint Leo University men’s basketball team (13-13, 6-9 SSC) was downed 82-60 by the visiting Eckerd College Tritons (18-8, 10-5 SSC) on Wednesday night in the Lions’ final home game of the 2007-08 season.

Six Eckerd players scored in double figures to lead the visitors to a season sweep of the Lions.  Damone Morris led all scorers with 14 points, while Trevor Lee scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Saint Leo was led by sophomore forward Jordan Prais (Lakeland, Fla.) who scored 11 points, while Kyle Rowland (Jr., North Port, Fla.) scored 10 points.

The Lions scored the opening field goal of the game with a jumper by Rowland, but it was the only lead of the night for the home team.  Eckerd used a 13-0 run late in the half to open up a 14-point advantage.  The Tritons took a 32-19 lead into half-time.

Eckerd did not let up in the second half, stretching its lead to 21 in the opening seven minutes of the second frame.  The Tritons eventually built their lead to a game-high 24 points three times before completing the season series sweep with the 22-point win.

Saint Leo will close out its regular season with a trip to Melbourne, Fla. this Saturday.  The Lions will face Florida Tech with a 4:00 p.m. opening tip.
