Saint Leo, Fla. (December 10, 2007) – Saint Leo University men’s basketball player Jordan Prais (So., Lakeland, Fla.) was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Prais had a tremendous week, as the Lions posted a 1-1 mark. He averaged 25.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 1.0 block and 0.5 steals per game. For the week, he shot a solid 68 percent (21-for-31) from the field.
In a 70-57 win against Florida College, the sophomore scored 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and added two assists, a block and a steal. In a 75-72 setback to Flagler, Prais did his part with a career and game-high 31 points, a game-high tying 10 rebounds and a block. The double-double versus Flagler was Prais’ second of the season and of his career.
Prais became the first men’s basketball player to earn Player of the Week honors in 2007-08. Overall, Saint Leo student-athletes have earned a total of 14 SSC Player of the Week awards during the current academic year.
The Saint Leo men’s basketball team (4-2) will return to the hardwood on Monday, December 17 when the Lions will host the University of West Florida. Opening tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Bowman Center.
