Saint Leo, Fla. (December 4, 2007) – The Saint Leo University men’s basketball team (4-1) defeated the visiting Florida College Falcons (8-5) by a score of 70-57 on Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Bowman Center.

Sophomore forward Jordan Prais (Lakeland, Fla.) scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Lions to the win.  Kyle Rowland (Jr., North Port, Fla.), Quentin Cullop (So., Winter Haven, Fla.) and Thomas Kaiser (So., Tampa, Fla.) also added double-figure scoring performances, as Saint Leo remained perfect on its home floor.

The first half was close with the lead exchanging hands six times and a total of five ties.  The largest lead of the opening frame was a five-point advantage for the Lions.  Eventually, Saint Leo led 32-29 at the break.

Saint Leo scored the first 10 points of the second half, and manufactured a run of 21-2 in the first 6:27 to open up a 22-point margin.  The Lions matched that 22-point lead twice more, but the Falcons went on a 12-2 run to close to within 11 points late in the contest.  A lay-up by Jonathan Banks (Sr., Tampa, Fla.) with 11 seconds left put the game to rest.

The Lions finished the night with a commanding 44-29 advantage in rebounds, and outscored the Falcons 36-24 in the paint.  Florida College held a 24-11 edge in points off the bench, but the Lions 15-10 advantage in offensive boards resulted in an eight-point margin in second chance points.

The Lions will return to the hardwood on Saturday, December 8 when they host Flagler College in another non-conference game.  Opening tip is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Bowman Center.
