Boca Raton, Fla. (February 24, 2007) – Led by Jordan Prais’ (Fr., Lakeland, Fla.) game-high 22 points, the Saint Leo men’s basketball team (13-14, 6-10 SSC) closed out its 2006-07 regular season with an impressive 73-68 win over Lynn University (14-13, 6-10 SSC) on Saturday in Boca Raton, Fla.

Kyle Rowland (So., North Port, Fla.) added 15 points in the win, while both Richard Blue (Sr., Miami, Fla.) and Quentin Cullop (Fr., Winter Haven, Fla.) scored 12 points each for the Lions.  Lynn was led in defeat by Hans Schur’s 16 points.

Saint Leo swept the season series from Lynn, after posting its first-ever win against the Fighting Knights earlier this season.  The victory helped the Lions jump the Knights and finish sixth in the Sunshine State Conference regular season standings.

Saint Leo will return to Boca Raton on Friday for the start of the 2007 Sunshine State Conference Men’s Basketball Championships.  The Lions will be the #6 seed and will face third seeded Eckerd College in the quarterfinals.  Opening tip will be at 5:00 p.m. at Lynn’s de Hoernle Center.

In a back-and-forth first half, Saint Leo led by as many as five early before a 9-0 run capped by an Ed Millard lay-in at the seven-minute mark gave the Knights a 25-19 lead.  Tying things up again, Lynn put together another pair of four-point leads until the Lions tied things up going into half-time on a free throw by Prais.

Saint Leo ran out to a five-point lead in the second half on a Prais lay-up three-and-a-half minutes in.  The Knights would respond behind an 8-0 run to claim the lead for the next nine minutes.

Another lay-in by Prais with 2:30 remaining gave SLU the lead for good as the Lions held on down the stretch for the victory.
