WINTER PARK, Fla. - Junior Jordan Taylor has been named the final 2014 Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday. He is joined byFlorida Southern's Brian Johnson as the Pitcher of the Week, presented by VALIC.
The Lions' junior utility player Jordan Taylor, a native of Palm Coast, Fla., recorded five extra base hits in the Lions' 2-1 series win over Barry to conclude the 2014 regular season. In game one, Taylor earned a pinch-hit two-out walk in the bottom of the ninth inning with the game tied. He would be the eventual game-winning run. In game two, the junior went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. In the finale, Taylor went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, one RBI, two doubles and a triple. Taylor finished the week hitting .625 (5-for-8), slugging 1.375 with four doubles and a triple, and on-base percentage of .727.
