Baseball’s Scout Day Turns in Impressive Showing of MLB Scouts

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University Baseball hosted its annual Major League Baseball Scout Day on Monday, October 15 at Thomas B. Southard Stadium to showcase the Lions' individual player skills to a professional audience.

Representatives from 23 Major League Baseball teams along with the MLB Scouting Bureau were in attendance as the Green and Gold took batting practice, the outfielders threw in from right field, infielders threw from shortstop and their individual positions, and catchers threw for time down to second base.  The Lions' pitching staff also had the opportunity to throw off the mound for the scouts during an intrasquad scrimmage.

Saint Leo Baseball opens the 2013 season on February 1 when they host Montevallo (Ala.) at Southard Stadium.  The Lions will formally kick off the season the day before when they host "Opening Night with the Lions" on January 31 in the Student Community Center Boardrooms at the University Campus.
