WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo junior right-handed pitcher Charles Neely has been recognized as Sunshine State Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday by league officials.
Neely, a hurler hailing from Belleview, Fla., tossed a complete-game shutout in the Lions' 4-0 win at Florida Tech. Pitching nine innings, Neely allowed just four hits with no walks. He struck out five Panther batters.
Only the FIT leadoff batter reached third in the Lions' second win of the week. No other Panther would even advance to second base in the dominating victory.
Neely is one of 32 Saint Leo student-athletes to be named SSC Player of the Week in 2011-12.
