SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo baseball team returned home and returned to their winning ways as the Lions trounced visiting Clearwater Christian 16-2 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening from Southard Stadium.
The night belonged to senior shortstop Zach Miller as he registered two at-bats in the scorebook, both ending with him rounding the bases. His first round-tripper came with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first on a long shot that traced the left-field foul line.
It only took another inning to see Miller add another homer when he sent a two-run shot over the left field wall.
He finished a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI as his only other at-bat earned a base-on-balls before he turned shortstop duties over to Nick Gill.
His performance at the plate was nearly matched by starting pitcher Rick Teasley's outing on the mound. The two-time conference Pitcher of the Week winner tossed six innings, only allowing a single hit while mixing in 73 pitches to strike out eight batters.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday afternoon when they face St. Anselm College in a pre-Hall of Fame contest. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Thomas B. Southard Stadium. For the latest news, information, and updates on Lions' Baseball, visit SaintLeoLions.com.
