DALLAS, Texas - Saint Leo junior left-hander Rick Teasley has earned the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) South Region Pitcher of the Week recognition as it was announced earlier this week. The award follows his second Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week accolade earned in as many weeks.
Teasley, a native of Port St. Lucie, Fla., tossed another gem in the Lions' 6-1 victory at Eckerd. Working all nine innings, he surrendered one earned run on six hits with no walks. He struck out nine Triton batters.
He joins Florida Tech infielder Alex Alfonso, who was named the NCBWA's Player of the Week for the same period.
Now earning votes in the NCBWA's South Region poll, the Lions will take their 8-3 overall record to Orlando, Fla. and face Florida Christian College on Friday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. For the latest news, information, and updates on Lions' Baseball, visit SaintLeoLions.com.
