RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Saint Leo graduate Marie Coors '17 earned a berth into Stage 2 after surviving Stage 1 of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Qualifying School, which concluded Sunday at Mission Hills Country Club.

Coors will now advance to Stage 2, which will be held October 16-22 at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla.

The Gross-Zimmern, Germany, native carded a three-over 291 over the 72-hole first stage. She was among 12 golfers who finished tied for 79th out of 143 golfers who began the fourth and final round of the stage.

Coors fired a one-under 71 in Thursday's first round at the Dinah Shore course, followed by a 76 on Friday at the Palmer course, and a 70 in Saturday's round at the Gary Player course at the Westin Mission Hills Resort. She capped the stage with a two-over 74 in Sunday's final round on the Dinah Shore course at Mission Hills Country Club.

Clare Connolly '15 also played in Stage 1 of the LPGA Q-School, and carded a five-over 149 over the first three rounds. She did not make the cut to play in Sunday's fourth round. Connolly carded rounds of 76, 73, and 72 over the first three days of the stage.

The top 90 players and ties in Stage 1 qualified for Stage 2, out of an initial field of 361 entrants who began competition on Thursday, Aug. 24.

Stage 2 will consist of 72 holes of stroke play competition, with the top 80 and ties advancing to Stage 3 on November 29-December 3 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
