SAINT LEO, Fla. – A total of 72 Saint Leo student-athletes earned Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Awards when the association's list of honorees was announced on Friday.
The D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards recognize NCAA Division II student-athletes who have completed four semesters of post-secondary academic work and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50-or-better on a 4.00 scale.
"The 2016-17 academic year was one of extraordinary achievements by Saint Leo's student-athletes, both athletically and academically. To have so many of our athletes recognized through the D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards program is a great culmination to what has been a prosperous year for Saint Leo Athletics, and is an excellent springboard into what I am confident will be an even more successful 2017-18," said Francis X. Reidy, Saint Leo's director of athletics and a past president of the D2ADA.
A total of 10,644 student-athletes from 183 NCAA Division II institutions were recognized by this year's D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards. Saint Leo's 72 honorees was third in the Sunshine State Conference behind Florida Southern College (150 honorees) and Lynn University (75 honorees).
