SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo senior Colett Rampf earned Sunshine State Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors on Monday, picking up the award for a conference-record 16th time in her illustrious career.

Rampf was tabbed for the honor after winning the University of South Florida Invitational 5K on Friday evening at USF's The Claw golf course. She crossed the finish line in 17:51.1, winning the meet by nearly 16 seconds over her nearest competitor. Rampf ran a 5:44.4 mile pace over the 5K event, and was first in a field of 155 runners.

"This is a great way for Colett to end her regular season cross country career," said Kent Reiber, Saint Leo head cross country coach. "I was talking to her after the race and we both had a good laugh… one of her first races for us was at the exact same course well over four years ago. Four years ago she ran a 19:04.1, and on Friday she easily ran 17:51.1. It just goes to show you how much she bought-in to our training plan, and how determined she is to get the best out of herself. This is a tremendous achievement for a tremendous student-athlete."

The previous mark for most SSC weekly awards earned over a career was 15, held by University of Tampa volleyball player Berkley Whaley (2013-15) and Florida Southern women's basketball player Lucresia West (2002-05).

This was Rampf's fourth SSC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award this season.

The Lions begin their championship season this Saturday, Oct. 21, when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to compete in the SSC Cross Country Championship. The men's 8K championship will start at 7:45 a.m., followed by the women's 6K championship at 8:45 a.m.
