WINGATE, NC - Saint Leo’s Matt Obermeyer has been named the 2011 Deep South Conference Freshman of the Year. Mars Hill College senior attack Tyler Farmer has been named the league’s Player of the Year. Florida Southern coach Marty Ward and Lenoir-Rhyne’s Greg Paradine earn co-Coach of the Year honors. All-conference awards were handed out on Monday after a coaches vote was held Sunday afternoon.
Obermeyer has netted 33 goals on the year, leading all freshmen and ranking third in the conference. He also has five assists, and ranks sixth in the DSC with 3.17 points per game. Seventeen of his 33 goals came during conference play.

Maggie Walker Competes in the NCAA Swim Championships
SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - Saint Leo women's swimmer Maggie Walker and Head Coach Paul Mangen have successfully made it to the NCAA Division II Swim Championships in San Antonio. Cheerleading Announces Tryout Dates and Information Meetings
