SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo women’s basketball player Christina Granville has been named Saint Leo Athlete of the Week, for the period ending December 4.
Granville, a Clewiston, Fla. native, had a spectacular week for the Lions as she assisted the team to a 2-0 weekly mark with victories over Warner and Southeastern.
Over the two-game stretch, the Lions junior forward averaged a double-double (14 pts., 10.5 rebs.) and shot nearly 70 percent from the field. She forced five steals and shot 86 percent from the free throw line.
In the Lions first victory of the week over Warner, Granville went off for a season-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. It marked the first double-double of her Saint Leo career. In addition, she registered two steals and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
In a 14-point win over Southeastern on Saturday, Granville made good on 2-of-4 shots en route to a seven point game. Her biggest contribution, however, came in the rebounding department where he tabulated nine boards over 32 minutes of action. She was also a menace on the defensive end as she forced a season-high three steals and dished out two assists.
Granville and the rest of the Lions will return to action Tuesday, December 13, when they host Newberry College in a regional showdown. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
