SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University Department of Athletics has announced the names of the five new members who will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame at the 2012 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Saint Leo Student Community Center. The evening will feature a reception commencing at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and the induction ceremony. The event is sponsored by Bright House Networks.

The newest members of the Saint Leo Athletics Hall of Fame include influential Sports Information Director and Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame member Walt Riddle, as well as Saint Leo College baseball standout Brian Krot (’99). The duo will be joined by University-era women’s basketball star September Harrison (’04) and softball All-American Katie Heintz (’06). The Lions will also posthumously honor Saint Leo Prep School basketball and track performer James Thomas “Tiny” Johns (’49).

The Saint Leo Hall of Fame was organized by former Athletic Director Dr. Norm Kaye in 1986-87. Committee members include a broad representation of the University’s alumni as well as the administration, faculty and athletic department.

The purpose of the Saint Leo Hall of Fame is to honor former students, coaches and administrators who excelled in Saint Leo athletics in the Prep School, Junior College, four-year College or University. Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those persons who have brought distinction, honor and excellence to Saint Leo athletics and familiarize the entire campus community and alumni with the University’s rich athletic history.
