  • Arielle Kabangu has a career-total of 43 goals following the opening three games. She is now just nine goals form the career-record of 52 held by Casie Poyssick.
  • Christian Brothers is 2-0 to open the season with two home wins over Rhodes (Tenn.), and Clayton State (Ga.). 
  • Mariana Tonelli and Camilla Rodrigues both share the lead as top goal scorer with two-a-piece. They both also have one assists.

Game Notes

  • The Saint Leo women's volleyball team opened the 2015 season 3-1, the programs best opening weekend since 2011. The Lions faced two top-25 teams at the Hampton-Innvitational hosted by West Florida and earned its first win over a ranked opponent of the season and just its third in the past five years. 
  • Junior outside hitter Hope Lemon, enters the weekend with 54 kills and 31 digs, is averaging 3.86 kills per set on the season. In addition to Lemon, junior opposite side hitter Anna Siruckova has 34 kills and 10 blocks, while senior middle blocker Jillian Stolzenburg has recorded 29 kills, seven aces, six blocks and is hitting .258.
  • Ashlee Hodgskin was named to the seven-member All-Tournament team dished out 11.50 assists per set at the Invitational, including a career high 45 assists against #3 Southwest Minnesota State. In the Lions 3-1 loss to #3 SMSU, Hodgskin led a Lion offense that hit a team attack percentage of .273 and .270 in the third and fourth sets. The setter turned in four consecutive 30+ assist performances and was the fist Lion setter to do so since 2013.
  • Jamee Townsend set the standard at the tournament with 4.93 digs per set and 69 total digs. In the first match of the season, Townsend notched a career high 24 digs (8.0 digs per set), in a three-set win against Missouri-St. Louis. Townsend recorded four consecutive double-digit dig performances for the first time in her career. Against Bridgeport, the junior added a career high three service aces. 
  • The Lions will face Central Oklahoma, who is one of the four teams in the tournament that won over 20 matches a season ago. The Bronchos enter the weekend sporting a 5-0 record after recording four wins, including three in straight sets, at last weekend's season opening Maryville Invitational. Central Oklahoma has received votes in both AVCA Top-25 polls this season. 
  • West Texas A&M, comes into the weekend sporting a 3-1 record and a No. 24 ranking in this week's first regular season AVCA Division II Coaches' Poll. The Lady Buffs, who posted a 32-5 record a season ago and fell in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional to Colorado Mesa, welcome back three starters, its libero and seven letterwinners from last season's squad.

  • This is the first tournament of the season for the Lions, and they will be sending Alberto Barroso, Alex Theiler, Egor Panyushkin, and Fons Verberne.
  • The field will be divided into three singles divisions and two doubles divisions. No-ad scoring will be in place for both singles and doubles. The tournament includes players from the following schools: Arkansas, Armstrong State, Barry, Clemson, College of Charleston, Columbus State, Davidson, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Georgia College, Georgia Gwinnett, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Lander, Liberty, Lipscomb, Memphis, Mercer, Mississippi State, Saint Leo, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, Virginia Tech and Winthrop.

Game Notes

  • Saint Leo's win over no.21 Arkansas Fort Smith marked the first double-digit kill performance of the season for Stolzenburg, and just the sixth time of her career. She tied her career high 12 kills, which she also reached at Nova Southeastern (11/8/2014). 
  • Newcomer Avery Bradshaw reached another career milestone, sprawling for 11 digs, her first double-digit dig performance. 
  • Lemon has opened the season with four consecutive double-digit kill performances. Lemon has also served an ace in three consecutive matches.
  • Merrimack posted a 17-8 record last season and finished sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference with a 9-5 record. The Warriors, who are 1-0 this season after opening the 2015 campaign with a four-set win at Saint Michael's last Friday, welcome back three starters and 10 letterwinners from last season's team.

Game Notes

  • Saint Leo heads into the home opener with a 1-1 record, following two games on the campus of Young Harris.
  • Matthias Katerna (Jr., F, Oberasbach, Germany) was the obvious top performer in the Lions win over Lees-McRae with four shots, all of which were on goal, putting away three for a hat trick. The junior had a team-best five goals in the 2014 season.
  • The WU Royals were picked to finish eighth in the Sun Conference following a 7-9-1, 4-5-1 SC record in 2014.
  • Warner opened the season with a 1-1 draw versus Florida National, and followed with a 2-1 loss at Eckerd.
