  • The Lions are fresh off a pair of 3-0 Sunshine State Conference sweeps over Florida Tech and Lynn this past weekend.  Junior Jillian Stolzenburg ravaged the opposition, posting 14 kills at a blistering .445 attack clip.  The middle blocker posted six blocks in addition to three service aces.
  • Senior Tawni Warren notched an errorless 16-kill barrage across the two meetings, as the outside hitter managed a swift-swinging .435 attack percentage.
  • Libero Yaidimar Santiago continues toward history as the senior sits 32 digs from breaking the single-season dig record, a mark she set her junior season with 549.  The defensive dynamo leads the SSC with 5.57 digs per set.
  • Eckerd dropped a 3-1 conference matchup to Rollins College, Wednesday. Freshman Mackenzie Redner reached a career-high 17 kills at a .349 clip while libero Kaitlyn Sibson totaled 26 digs to lead the defense.  The Tritons managed a team .237 attack percentage but was unable to match the Tars torrid offense.
  • In the last meeting between the two squads, the Tritons edged the Lions 3-2 despite a career effort from Alexa Griffith-Hardy.  The senior right side notched 26 kills at a .512 attack clip.  Eckerd owns a slim 35-31 record for the all-time series.

  • The men’s tennis team will conclude its fall schedule with a tournament appearance at the Florida Gulf Coast Invite.
  • The field includes a strong crop of Division I and Division II programs, including tough SSC foe Barry University.
  • Bruno Sisti ascended to the final matchup of his draw at the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational on Oct. 6th. Sisti fell to Tyler Pate of Central Florida by scores of 7-5 and 6-2.

  • The Lions will meet a ranked opponent for fifth time this season in No. 1 Tampa.  Saint Leo has defeated No. 5 Wheeling Jesuit and No. 22 West Florida, but fell to No. 23 Palm Beach Atlantic and No. 1 Tampa, holding a 2-2 overall tally against ranked foes.
  • Senior Lauren Campbell continues to cement her name in the Lions history books, passing Danielle Bletso for fourth in career kills. Campbell has 266 kills for her final season of play and has 1055 kills for her career.
  • Tampa dismantled No. 20 Palm Beach Atlantic in their last meeting, taking a 3-0 sweep over the ranked opponent.  Junior Berkley Whaley unloaded 15 kills at a .375 attack while setter Kahley Patrick tuned the offense to a .321 team attack clip behind 38 assists.

Game Notes

  • Saint Leo returns to the pitch after suffering a 3-2 conference loss to No. 4 Lynn.  The Lions were able to come back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the match at 2-2.  In the 86th minute, Fighting Knights forward Chris Hellman netted the game winner to clinch the SSC regular season title.
  • Goalkeeper Manuel Schoenhuber garnered his second Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Lynn and Florida Southern.  The junior has eight shutouts this season, with a 0.62 goals-against average and 52 saves on the year.
  • Forward Maximilian Schultze-Geisthovel leads the offense with four each of goals and assists, good for a team-leading 12 points.  Junior Henry Adu and sophomore Bafou Sanogo each have seven points as Adu tallied three goals this season while Sanogo netted two.
  • Rollins enters the contest with a 2-1 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic.  Midfielder Alexis Martinez and Grant Blackhurst posted goals in the win while keeper Julian Grundler managed a pair of saves to stymie the Sailfish.
  • In the last meeting between the two squads, Rollins Edged Saint Leo 1-0 as Evan Greenbaum scored off a rebounded corner kick in the 16th minute of play.
