MELBOURNE, Fla. –Sophomore Isabella Robbiani (Asuncion, Paraguay) of Saint Leo earns SSC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, and junior Bruno Sisti (Londrina, Brazil) also of Saint Leo University is named the SSC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week. Both competitors were selected SSC Tennis Athletes of the Week from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 9-15.
Robbiani finished the week with a 2-0 record in #1 singles and a 1-1 record in #1 doubles in two team wins over ranked opponents for the Lions. Her singles wins came against #11 Florida Southern (6-7, 6-4, 10-4) and #5 Lynn (6-2, 1-0) where she beat the #1 singles competitor in the nation. In doubles play, Robbiani and her partner (Maria Benkirane) had a doubles win over Lynn (8-2) and a loss to Florida Southern (8-6).
The Asuncion, Paraguay native is 3-1 in singles play with a 2-2 record in doubles action. The award marks the first for Robbiani.
Sisti went 4-0 on the week with two wins in both singles and doubles events in duals against Abraham Baldwin (#8 in junior college) and #7 Lynn. In #5 singles, Sisti’s two wins came against ABAC (6-2, 6-2) and Lynn (4-6, 6-2, 6-4). Sisti and his partner (Alex Theiler) competed in #1 doubles and defeated ABAC (8-4) and Lynn (9-8 (10-3)) who is currently the #1 doubles team in the nation.
The Londrina, Brazil native is a perfect 3-0 in singles action on the year and owns a 3-1 record in doubles play.
