SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo men’s
basketball player Shaun Adams has been named Saint Leo Athlete of
the Week, for the period ending December 19.
Adams, a Liberty, Mo. native, had a strong week for the Lions as he scored in double figures in each of his team’s three games.
The Lions’ junior forward averaged 12.7 points-per-game, while shooting sixty percent from the floor (12-of-20). He also posted 18 rebounds, forced seven steals and registered four blocks. In addition, Adams made a team-best 14 free throws over the three game stretch.
In his most dominant effort of the week, Adams poured in 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting against Division I New Orleans. He also collected eight rebounds and dished-out two assists in 33 minutes of action.
He followed that with a 10-point effort against ninth-ranked West Liberty. Seeing six of his points come from the free throw line, Adams also recorded six rebounds and forced a steal.
Adams finished-out the week with an 11-point effort in a 26-point win over Tuskegee. He went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line, while connecting on 3-of-5 shots from the field. His biggest accomplishment, however, came on the defensive end where he compiled a career-best six steals in 26 minutes of action. Adams also chipped in four rebounds and a week-high two blocks.
Adams and the rest of the Lions will return to action Saturday, December 31, when the squad opens Sunshine State Conference action against Lynn University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. from the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
